| Premig detailed information:Premig is combination of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and an anti-sickness drug. It is indicated for the treatment of migraine-associated symptoms such as headache, nausea and vomiting.This medicine contains two active ingredients, lysine acetylsalicylate and metoclopramide. Lysine acetylsalicylate is a soluble form of acetylsalicyclic acid, otherwise known as aspirin. Aspirin is a painkiller that belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase. During a migraine attack sufferers can often feel sick or vomit. Metoclopramide is used to treat the nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) you may get with migraine attacks. Metoclopramide is an antisickness medicine (antiemetic). It works primarily by blocking dopamine receptors that are found in an area of the brain known as the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ). This reduces the sensation of nausea and prevents vomiting.Premig works by relieving the pain of headaches and migraines, and by reducing the sensation of nausea and preventing vomiting. Acetylsalicylate lysine is commonly used to treat migraine, but its absorption is delayed during migraine attacks, probably due to gastric stasis. The addition of metoclopramide has been recommended to enhance aspirin absorption and to treat nausea and vomiting.This combination of acetylsalicylate lysine and metoclopramide is most effective at relieving migraine when it is taken as soon as possible after the onset of an attack.
